A PLEASING AROMA

(Extravagant Worship)

            1. FRANKINSCENCE WAS A GIFT FOR __________.

Exodus 30:7–10 Aaron must burn fragrant incense on the altar every morning when he tends the lamps. He must burn incense again when he lights the lamps at twilight so incense will burn regularly before the Lord...

2 Corinthians 2:14–16 14 But thanks be to God, who... uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 16 To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life

              2. FRANKINSCENCE WAS A ______________ GIFT.

Mark 12:41–44 41 Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. 43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everythingall she had to live on.”

      3. FRANKINSCENCE WAS A ______________________ GIFT.

Luke 7:36–38 36 When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37 A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.

The word “WORSHIP” is a shortened form of the Old word “WORTH-SHIP”

(Showing God the WORTH he Holds)

       4. FRANKINSCENCE WAS AN ____________________ GIFT.

Romans 12:1 (NIV-KJV) 1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—which is your reasonable service.

- “REASONABLE” = “Intelligent” (GK. “Logiken” “Logical”)

Matthew 13:44 44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

The Aroma of extravagant worship with Frankincense reminds us that the Stench from our ________ is being covered over with the sweet, pleasing Aroma of Jesus’ sacrifice leading to our __________________________!

2 Corinthians 5:19–20 19 God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. 20 …We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
