TRANSFORMED by HIS GLORY
Memory Verse
2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV
And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
The importance of Slowing down to Reflect / Wait on the Lord
The average person’s attention span is 8.25 seconds.
The average human attention span decreased by 2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV
And we all, who with unveiled faces almost 25% from 2000 to 2015. It went from 12 sec. to 8 sec. in 15 years.
Adam & Eve - They could have waited – Contemplated – Slowed down – Reflected a bit until The Cool of the day and been enlightened by His glory.
They could have asked God about the claim the Serpent had made.
As a result they paid for it and all of us have suffered ever since. Our independent decisions affect more than ourselves.
When we slow down and reflect and Wait we have the possibility of Encountering the Lords Glory and as a result experience TRANSFORMATION!
Exodus 33:18 – 19
18 Then Moses said, “Please, show me Your glory!”
He had seen God split the Red Sea and delivered over a million Israelite’s to the other side and saw Pharaoh’s army destroyed !
19 And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you;
Moses instinctively knew that Gods Glory was more than powerful miracles
Exodus 34:5 -6 NIV
5 Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord.
6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.
The Glory of God!
COMPASSIONATE – GRACIOUS – PATIENT - FULL OF LOVINGKINDNESS
FAITHFUL TO GENERATIONS - FORGIVING / MERCY
Life provides us with many unfair opportunities for Gods Glory to show up.
Psalm 106:7-9 NASB
Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your wonders; They did not remember Your abundant kindnesses, But rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea.
8 Nevertheless He saved them for the sake of His name, That He might make His power known. 9 Thus He rebuked the Red Sea and it dried up, And He led them through the deeps, as through the wilderness.
12 Then they believed His words; They sang His praise.
13 They quickly forgot His works; They did not wait for His counsel,
14 But craved intensely in the wilderness, And tempted God in The desert.
God gives us the “key of encounter” to be Transformation when we feel like He is being Unfair.
ISAIAH 40: 27- 31
Why do you say, O Jacob, and assert, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord, And the justice due me escapes the notice of my God”?
He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power.
30 Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly,
31 Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.
When you do what’s right and suffer for it.
2 Timothy 3:12 NKJV
12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
UNFAIR SUFFERING
1 Peter 2: 20-23
But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God.
21 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, 22 WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH;
23 and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;
Escaping Judgment & Double Standards
Through the transformation of Seeing others through His Eyes
Ephesians 1: 18
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
We tend to see people through our own filter system. We value and respect some differently than others.
We tend to respect people based on
How much Money they have
How successful they are
How much integrity they have
What they look like
How they vote
In Gods eyes whether a criminal or a president we are equal in value because we are made in His image.
Matthew 7:12-14
12 “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Jesus is the Gate
John 10: 9 NLT
9 Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.
