THE RESUME OF A DISCIPLE 12-11-22

- “Under the age of six we do not receive a child as a pupil; from six upward accept him and stuff him (with Torah) like an ox.”  (Talmud B.B. 21a)

Bet Sefer (House of the Book) - Ages 6-10 

Bet Talmud (House of Learning) - Ages 10-14 

Bet Midrash (House of Study) - Ages 14-18 

Luke 2:46-47  After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. ⁴⁷ Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.

Matthew 11:29–30 (Jesus said) ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you and learn from me... ³⁰ For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 4:18-20 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. ¹⁹ "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." ²⁰ At once they left their nets and followed him. 

Matthew 4:21–22 ²¹ Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, ²² and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.  

John 15:16 ¹⁶ You did not choose me, but I chose you...

Matthew 14:28-31 ²⁸ "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."… ³⁰ But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" ³¹ Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"
