Hebrews 8:7–13 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another… 10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel… declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people… 12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” 13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete

IV. COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS:

1. God is a ____________________ Judge

Romans 6:16-18 16 Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin... 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness

2. Grace gives me a __________ to do whatever I want

Romans 6:14-19 14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!... 19 Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness…

3. Grace removes the ____________________ of my

actions

Romans 6:21-22 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

Colossians 3:25 (NASB) For he who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality

4. Good works make God ______________ me more

Galatians 3:1-3 1 You foolish Galatians!... 2 Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
