Series: WHERE IN THE WORLD IS GOD?

“SIGNS OF THE TIMES” (pt. 1) 8-21-22

Matthew 16:2-3 (NIV) Jesus said… "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' 3 and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast. 'You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.

Matthew 20:20–21 (NIV) 20 the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him. 21 “What is it you want?” he asked. She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”

BEFORE THE TRIBULATION:

1. Israel to Reclaim Holy Land.

Ezekiel 36:8–11 (NIV) 8 my people Israel… will soon come home… 10 and I will cause many people to live on you—yes, all of Israel. The towns will be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt. 11 I will increase the number of people and animals living on you, and they will be fruitful and become numerous. I will settle people on you as in the past and will make you prosper more than before. Then you will know that I am the Lord. - May 14th, 1948 Israel was Declared a State

- May 15th 1948 The War of Independence (9 months)

- The Six Day War

Ezekiel 28:25-26 (NIV) 25 "'This is what the Sovereign Lord says: When I gather the people of Israel from the nations where they have been scattered, I will show myself holy among them in the sight of the nations. Then they will live in their own land, which I gave to my servant Jacob. 26 They will live there in safety and will build houses and plant vineyards; they will live in safety when I inflict punishment on all their neighbors who maligned them. Then they will know that I am the Lord their God.'"

2. Jews to Repopulate Israel.

Ezekiel 38:8 (NIV) 8 “(the Jewish) people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety.”

Jeremiah 16:15 (NIV) 15 “the Lord… who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.” For I will restore them to the land I gave their forefathers.

3. Will be Hearing of Wars, Famines and Earthquakes

Matthew 24:6-8 (NIV) 6 "You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. 8 "But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.

Revelation 11:8-9 (NASB-U) 8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street … 9 Those from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will look at their dead bodies for three and a half days, and will not permit their dead bodies to be laid in a tomb.

4.  The Peace Process will be solved!

1 Thess. 5:1-3 (NIV) 1 Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

Two Hindrances to a Peace Process:

A. Jerusalem

Zechariah 12:2–3 (KJV-ESV) “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling to all the surrounding peoples… On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it.

Psalm 132:13–14 (NIV) 13 For the Lord has chosen Jerusalem, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying, 14 “This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.

 B. The Temple Mount

- Jews Pray for 2 things daily…

1. The Rebuilding of the Temple.

2. The Coming of Messiah

Inscription in Arabic inside Dome of the Rock, “The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, is an apostle of God. God is only one God, Far be it from his glory to have a son.”

Rev. 11:1-2 (NIV) 1 “Then I was given a measuring stick, and I was told, "Go and measure the Temple of God and the altar, and count the number of worshipers. 2 But do not measure the outer courtyard, for it has been turned over to the nations. They will trample the holy city for 42 months (3 ½ years).”

David… 1 Chronicles 21 “I will Not Sacrifice to the Lord that which Cost me Nothing.”

2 Peter 3:9 (NIV) 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
