The Shield of Faith       Ephesians 6:16            5-28-23

Ephesians 6:13  “put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground…”

MEMORY VERSE: Ephesians 6:16  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Definition of FAITH: “Acting Like God is Telling the Truth

Luke 5:5 Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets."

Life-Changing FAITH PRINCIPLE:

“If Jesus IS who He said He IS, then I can trust Him to DO what He said He can DO!”

Mark 5:27-28 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed

Malachi 4:2 “The Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings.” (Tassel, Fringe)

Genesis 22 - ABRAHAM tested with his son ISAAC…

Two Things Keeping us from Experiencing God:

1.) WE KNOW TOO MUCH!

James 2:14–17 14 What good is it… if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

2.) WE KNOW TOO LITTLE!

Romans 10:17 (ESV) So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ

James 1:22–25 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
