 Unwrapping Your God-Given Gifts

 1 Corinthians chapter 12:1 – “Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed

Why Does God Give Gifts Anyways?

• It is God’s good _______________________ to give.  
• Christianity is not defined by what we __________, but by what God has ____________.   What has God done…?  He has Given!
• The gift of grace is not dependent upon the ________________ it is dependent solely on the _____________________.  
• DEBATES! How can the world see God’s love if we don’t even love each other?  

Twofold Purpose of Spiritual Gifts:

Purpose 1

1. Spiritual Gifts are Essential for the _______________, ______________ and _______________ of the Church Body.

1 Corinthians chapter 12:4-7 – “⁴ There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.⁵ There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. ⁶ There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. ⁷ Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”

Ephesians 4:12 – “to equip his/God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”

Ephesians 4:15-16 – “speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is Christ. ¹⁶ From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

Ephesians 2:20 - first church was “²⁰ built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.”

Romans 15:19-20 – Paul states ¹⁹ by the power of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. ²⁰ It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.
